Apparitions 03:22
I think there might be someone else In my house hiding I keep finding things rearranged And I hear pacing If I could kiss your pretty wounds I would but only the foolish return to the scene of the crime Lonely I can’t seem to get you out of my mind Help me I guess I’m haunted until you feel like you have shown me Freedom
2.
Cinderland 03:44
Farewell pale repents Farewell lone torment I have poisoned the pool in the lion's den I have torn from the womb the born again I found my name And it rhymes with dead Welcome back my priest Welcome night unleashed From this view in the cinderland Where nothing grows and nothing stands From this view in the cinderland I found my name And it rhymes with dead There is no abyss Only thoughts about it Killed it or something I killed it or something I killed it or something You know I wanted to
3.
Paramnesia 03:17
In the museum filled with artifacts That have never existed Bullets decorate the walls beautifully From a gun that never fired And I swear to you it is not true Whatever your mind might lie to you And I swear no one officer Visited before they died Memories of a ghost that have risen from A body that never died I watched your mind destroy the past And regret the future And I swear to you it is not true Whatever your mind might lie to you And I swear no one officer Visited before they died Paramnesia

Am I still coming up or have I crossed over to the other side Do the cops know do the cops know do the cops know do the cops know Is this my blood or the splatter of my family Pneuma enthusiastikon God rot Terror ubique My hubris has bitten me Do the cops know do the cops know do the cops know Is the man dead is the mean dead is he Please someone take me out Snuff this mortal flame Meathook of consciousness Yearned knot implodes you Pneuma enthusiastikon

Prankquean 03:00
All rise Little did I know there was want for naught Little did I know she could smell the rot And I need to confess I need to confess Little did I know there was room for loss Little did I know I’m the albatross And I need to confess There are bodies under the floor All things come in threes Like the six on her dress of gore Every fire lit has been started by her Cosmic arson Everything you taste is the flesh of a child Killed by her Trust her knife though microscopic it Hurts where you need to feel Divine scourge and iron swords cut the Stone made of flesh Little did I know there was want for naught
6.
I peeked and I saw god masterbating on the night shift If he’d been on guard at the graveyard he’d have caught the thief She took you away from here left feeble and dumbstruck If you had a mouth you’d scream about dead coyote dreams Yes once a sinner but now a coward And what about your own unholy matrimony Clandestine and technicolor I saw the birth of my mother But nothing could have shown me what she ended up doing to you No more songs to sing No more bells to ring No more gun to aim No more god to blame And now divorced now who’s the sinner And who’s the saint And who’s for dinner What happens to the light when a tomb is forever sealed Where does the heat go from a body that is never healed When I hear night’s death song rising from the last breath of day I see it not let a cry but accept it and give way.
7.
There was a sadness in bloom Growing inside her tomb There was a madness It spoke of you I tell stories Such lovely stories And you’d love them too And maybe one day I’ll learn to love Shoot out the sky from a falling dove I tell stories Such lovely stories And you’d love them too It lingers in abandoned castles Breathing out death and decay Fleeting in the corner of my eye Dragging my insides Around her scaffold I fell for it again The ghost inside my head The photos I found of you You look dead
8.
Dulcinea 04:50
I’m gonna tell you my one darkest secret Took a life and hid it in this orchestral pit Let me take drag of your ghost I’ll inhale Let me take a bite of your throat I’ll impale So sing forever for me sweet angel Let's die together and destroy heaven’s bells You are the gun woman in my novella Just married pulling a dead cinderella Hide your father’s body And lie forever for me sweet angel Let's die together my black angel
9.
Behemouth 04:12
The struggle is more fun than growth Like the ritual feels better than the high I never conquer anything I’m just swallowed whole And convince me right now that this night sky It is not leviathan swallowing the world whole And the stars hang proof all knowing we are not alone All hear the buried sing Death be not our tragedy Forever forever sings in all in all eternity I cannot fall if I abide See the tyrant pining to snare the sun Unaware that which burns makes him grow Wilt thou follow me inside of fear I believe in you Although the crowds may be spitting I believe in you Although the skies my be trembling I believe in you And your legs might be shaking I believe in you And as the Behemouth greets you I believe in you

Pissing 03:13
Word on hell street is that you are Trying to change your life But your actions they say What you really want You’ve been pissing in the fountain of youth Trust me man I have been there Pain will take your pride away No one can rest your axe so you must try I’ve seen heroes like you die You’ve been pissing in the fountain of youth I wish you could see what I see Don’t make me pray for you all night So low so low so low I always find you low How much deeper can you dig The bottom’s when you drop the shovel
12.
By hook or by crook I’ve turned from love to hide I’m trying to return to the place before I learned to lie This fear towers ancient in my blueprints before I could write To whom it may concern this is what my healing looks like

about

Dementia is a thief. It robs its victims piece by piece of their memory, identity, family and friends, and often enough even their human dignity. On their fourth full-length album, "Bleed, Memory" Los Angeles-based electronic experimentalists THIEF explore the theme of 'memory' both lyrically and musically, which runs as a bold dotted line throughout the album. The solo project's mastermind, Dylan Neal, was largely inspired for this album after witnessing his father, who had recently been diagnosed with dementia, transition from bouts of forgetfulness and confusion to acute episodes of false memories, delusions, visions, and strange behaviour. This makes "Bleed, Memory" a very personal creation and the experience has led Neal to question his own memories and explore how they shape his identity and reality. Memories are not just the stories we tell ourselves and others and this is evident in Neal's comparison of them to ghosts. Those have no corporal existence, yet scare those who believe in them. Once again, the backbone of THIEF is made up of sampled sacred chant music. Some were sampled from crate digging, and some recorded at various orthodox churches. These samples got stretched, cut, mangled, morphed, and pitched to function like its own ethereal instrument. Neal deliberately designed "Bleed, Memory" to sound haunted. One of the techniques that he used to achieve this effect is 'granular synthesis'. The more prominent use of granular synthesis on this record means that samples got split into small blips of audio, barely exceeding 100 milliseconds. This unique approach, amalgamating musical elements from ambient, industrial, choral music, black metal, and trip-hop, among other influences, into a new sonic experience, has long granted THIEF a cult status among the initiated. Neal once more recorded and mixed most of the album in his apartment. For the mastering he managed to win John Greenham again, whose collaborations include artists ranging from THE LOCUSTS and KATY PERRY to DEATH GRIPS, and who has received three Grammy Awards in 2019 that honoured his mastering for BILLIE EILISH. With "Bleed, Memory", THIEF deliver a dark yet beautiful artistic contemplation of a terrible affliction that is at the same time conveying anger, melancholy, sorrow, and loss as a Gesamtkunstwerk (synthesis of all arts) lyrically, musically, and visually. Beware this sonic ghost will haunt the memories of its listeners!
